探索西藏 Exploring Tibet

　　位于中国西南边陲的西藏，一向给人神秘的印象。面积达一百二十万平方公里的西藏，境内有无数嶙峋的高山、平静的湖泊、广大的草原，还有多座庄严的寺庙，每年均吸引不少游客去探索这引人入胜的地方。

　　In one’s heart, Tibet is a mysterious place. She is located in the south-western part of China, with an area of 1.2 million square meters. The high mountains, calm lakes, extended grassland, as well as grave temples and monasteries attract thousands of tourists every year.

　　二零零三年八月至九月初，赴藏旅游的国内外游客接近二十六万人，比上年同期增长25%以上，旅游总收入达二亿八千万人民币(约三千三百七十万美元)。

　　Between August and early September in 2003, domestic and overseas tourists to Tibet have reached up to 260,000, a 25% increase over the same period of last year. Total tourism income amounted to 280 million yuan (about USD33.7 million).

　　藏族风情

　　藏族是中国少数民族之一，主要分布在有「世界屋脊」之称的青藏高原上。而西藏是藏族的发源地，历史可追溯至石器时代晚期。

　　Culture of Tibetans

　　Tibetan is a minority in China. Most of them live in the Tibetan Plateau, which is known as the “roof of the world”. They have a long-lived history since the late Stone Age.

　　宗教

　　西藏最吸引人的是浓厚的宗教特色。当地人民主要信奉的佛教在公元七世纪由尼泊尔传入。当地有多座各派寺庙，吸引不少信众前来供奉。

　　Religion

　　It cannot be denied that religion is the most attractive feature of Tibet. Most Tibetans believe in Buddhism, which is come from Nepal in the 7th century. There are a lot of monasteries and temples which attract devotees to Tibet.
