青马大桥 The Tsing Ma Bridge

　　青马大桥自九二年五月开始兴建，造价七十一点四四亿港元，历时五年竣工，九七年五月通车。桥身全长二点二公里，主跨长度达一千三百七十七米。两座混凝土桥塔高二百零六米，离海面六十二米，足以容许船只行驶马湾海峡。采用的吊缆钢线总长度达十六万公里、逾二万七千吨，结构钢重量亦达五万吨。

　　青马大桥的设计特式是翼式桥面。正常情况下，车辆会使用上层的双程三线分隔车道，而下层的非露天车道只会在天气恶劣或紧急事故时才开放。

　　The construction of the Tsing Ma Bridge commenced in May 1992, costing HK$7.144 billion. Completed in 1997, the bridge was soon open to traffic in May of the same year. The bridge is 2.2km long, with a central span of 1,377m. The two concrete towers reach 206m and are 62m above the sea to enable shipping to continue through the Ma Wan Channel. Over 27,000 ton cables of 16,000km long and near 50,000 ton steel were used in its construction.

　　A feature of the bridge is its aerofoil shaped deck. Under normal conditions, traffic uses the dual three-lane carriageway on the upper deck. The lower deck's sheltered carriageway will be used in bad weather or in emergencies.

　　青马大桥连接青衣及马湾，不单是香港的建筑地标，更是全球最长的行车及铁路两用的悬索吊桥。

　　Tsing Ma Bridge stretches from Tsing Yi Isle to Ma Wan. Being a mighty landmark of the territory, the gigantic bridge also hits the world record of the longest road-rail suspension bridge.

　　青马大桥是青屿干线的主要部份，联同汲水门大桥和马湾高架道路，组成连接市区和香港国际机场的交通网络。而这个包括青马大桥在内的「机场核心计划」，于九九年荣获美国建筑界权威及编辑选为「二十世纪十大建筑成就奖」得主之一，与巴拿马运河、英法海峡隧道及三藩市金门大桥等其它九项工程同享殊荣。

　　The Tsing Ma Bridge is part of the Lantau Link, which also comprises the Kap Shui Mun Bridge and the Ma Wan Viaduct, to form the transport network serving between Hong Kong International Airport and urban districts. In 1999, the Airport Core Program, where the Tsing Ma Bridge is a vital part, was awarded as one of the ten outstanding architectures in the 20th century by the US authorities of the circle. The fames were also shared with Panama Canal, the British-French Channel Tunnel and Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

　　九七年四月二十五日为青屿干线开幕典礼，由当时的英国首相戴卓尔夫人主持，在青马大桥有长一千一百七十七米的大瀑布烟花荟演。

　　On April 25, 1997, Lantau Link was opened by the former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. At the Tsing Ma Bridge, a 1,177m waterfall of fireworks performed on the ceremony.

　　本港多个地点均可欣赏到青马大桥的壮丽景观，青衣岛西北端的「青屿干线访客中心」便是其一，游人可在观景台饱览大桥的景致。

　　Scenery of the bridge can be enjoyed in a number of locations. Lantau Link Visitors Centre at northwestern Tsing Yi Isle is a choice among, where there are great bridge views at the viewing platform.
